Pak Yuri menyampaikan materi dari Bab 14-nya Robbins:

Competency = Knowledge + Skill + Attitude

Attitude (sikap) + Perception (pemahaman) + Learning + Personality (sifat) = Behaviour (cara pandang)

Attitude terdiri dari: Komponen kognitif, afektif, behavioral (intention to behave in a certain way). Learning diukur dengan aptitude test. Personality adalah faktor genetis yang paling sulit diubah.

Empat macam kepribadian, kombinasi alami masing-masing orang:
1. Sanguinis = extrovert, populer
2. Melankolis = introvert, selalu ingin tampil sempurna
3. Korelis = kuat
4. Plegmatis = pencinta damai

Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
Social interaction: Extrovert or Introvert (E or I)
Preference for gathering data: Sensing or Intuitive (S or N)
Preference for decision making: Feeling or Thinking (F or T)
Style of decision making: Perceptive or Judgmental (P or J)

The Big Five Model: Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability, Openness to Experience.

Perusahaan yang sangat cenderung pada aplikasi-aplikasi TQM membutuhkan kepribadian karyawan yang berbeda dengan perusahaan yang menjalankan BPR (business process engineering, perubahan terjadi dinamis).

Emotional Intelligence (EI) = an assortment of noncognitive skills, capabilities, and competencies that influence a person’s ability to succeed in coping with environmental demands and pressures.

Dimensions of EI
Self-awareness: knowing what you’re feeling
Self-management: managing emotions and impulses
Self-motivation: persisting despite setbacks and failures
Empathy: sensing how others are feeling
Social skills: handling the emotions of others

People often confuse the words empathy and sympathy. Empathy means ‘the ability to understand and share the feelings of another’ (as in both authors have the skill to make you feel empathy with their heroines), whereas sympathy means ‘feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else’s misfortune’ (as in they had great sympathy for the flood victims).

Sympathy = emosional involved
Empathy = rasionally, offer solution

Pak Yuri juga menjelaskan bedanya perception (menangkap pertanda-pertanda dengan indera) dan impression (berdasarkan ide, perasaan). Yang menarik, ternyata ada baiknya perusahaan membuat survey untuk mengetahui job satisfaction karyawannya (untuk meningkatkan kinerja perusahaan) seperti contoh di bawah ini:
